As a Corrective Exercise Specialist and sports massage therapist, my focus is on joint health and mobility expansion for people at every fitness level.
Whether you’re preparing for a surgery, overcoming imbalance from past injuries, looking to start your athletic journey, or anywhere in between- I can help!
I pair hands on muscle manipulation with exercise prescription to ensure we’re developing a healthy fitness plan customized to you. As much as I love my clients, my goal is to see you in the short term and get you balanced and ready to take on advanced fitness programming- whether that’s through one of our other amazing personal trainers, as a part of our group fitness family, or on your own.
I also offer longer term written workout plans for intermediate to experienced lifters to keep you accountable and ensure your continued growth in the gym. If you’ve ever questioned your range of motion, need a more in-depth look at your muscle function, or specific guidance with your lifting technique and nutrition, I’m your trainer!

CHUCK LOBE
Chuck started his coaching career at Minnesota before moving on to be the head strength and conditioning coach at Minnesota State University. From there, he spent continued to build his career with the NHL's Tampa Bay Lightning, University of Denver, University of MN and with the Florida Atlantic University.
Chuck lives and breathes though working with teams towards progress. He is passionate about injury prevention and conditioning. Sometimes our little Ely gets handed some big talent.
Chuck adds RPR mobility and graston techniques to his sessions as needed.

Strength & Conditioning will start at $99/hr depending on what is added. This will be discussed at initial assessment.

KRISTIAN NELSON
From a young age, I was an athlete, always moving—whether it was playing soccer and lacrosse or training in martial arts. After high school, I transitioned from team sports to fitness, starting with P90X and gym routines inspired by Men’s Health, like Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine Workout. Over time, I explored everything from bodybuilding and CrossFit to parkour and kettlebells, constantly searching for the best ways to build strength, agility, and resilience.
This journey shaped my mission: to help you revitalize your athleticism and build a body you’re proud of so you can live life with confidence. You don’t need to compete in a sport to train like an athlete—you just need the drive to become more than you are now. My approach focuses on full-body training, covering everything from skill work and strength to agility, mobility, and injury recovery. Whether you’re reclaiming the athleticism you once had or discovering it for the first time, I’ll help you unlock your full potential.
I’ve experienced firsthand the power of intelligent training. After breaking my foot playing soccer, I used ATG principles to heal myself—strengthening not just my injury but my entire foundation. As a certified ATG coach, I believe in building strength from the ground up, starting with the feet. We never train through pain, always working within your current abilities and progressing at a pace that ensures lasting results.
Over the years, I’ve worked with everyone from high school athletes looking to excel in their sport to an 80-year-old woman determined to move through life with strength and confidence. Facing a significant birthday, I decided to put time and energy into strength and endurance training. I was fortunate to sign on with Kristian Nelson, a personal trainer and Level One ATG coach at the Ely HMS Functional Fitness Gym. Kristian is well trained in the ATG method which emphasizes conditioning and strengthening without pain or injury, starting from the feet upward and systematically working all muscle groups in legs, torso and core, arms, shoulders, and upper body. Working in a guided program three times a week with Kristian has resulted in improvement in my balance, strength, endurance, and outlook. I recommend the ATG training approach, and I wholeheartedly recommend Kristian as a trainer: he is intelligent, organized, attentive, and encouraging in addition to being deeply knowledgeable about ATG and it beneficial effects.

With a BS in Kinesiology from the University of Minnesota, a NASM CPT certification and a lifetime in the gym, I'm eager to share my knowledge and passion with the Ely community. My experience coaching soccer at the elite club and D1 levels has equipped me with a deep understanding of functional movement principles, which I apply to create personalized fitness plans for clients of all backgrounds.
I'm most excited to educate folks about healthy form and movement techniques, ensuring that no one feels intimidated. Additionally, I'll be offering accessible group workouts designed to cater to all fitness levels and abilities. My commitment to personalized training and assessment allows me to tailor programs to meet the unique needs of each client. Whether you're a seasoned gym rat or just starting your fitness journey, I'm here to help you invest in your own wellness and crush your goals!
